Embrace the freedom of

tectonic variation.

Interested in some even finer articulation?  Reducing the mass of the legs + arching the aprons creates a lighter, more elegant

presence in a space.  Even minor design decisions such as this can alter the spatial qualities of a room in unforeseen ways.

Choose to match your space,

your personality, or both.

Tapering the square legs of a table immediately adds a sense of relief to the overall form.  While there is nothing wrong with a perfectly

square leg, it is very simple.  Removing some material by adding a taper to the leg lessens the mass of the overall frame, and at the same time adds some detail.  Arching

the aprons accomplishes a very similar goal, yet this “taper” has a radius, making it symmetrical, and creating a much more elegant presence in the space.

Pick + choose, or combine.

While you have the option to either shape the legs or shape the aprons, you can also shape both at the same time by tapering the legs

and arching the apron.   This will create the most space and lightest presence of the four combinations.  Depending on the space the table will be placed in, the

design + decoration of the interior of the room, as well as your own personal preference, there is a form to fit almost everybody.
